Macy Gray Premieres New Music Video for “Sugar Daddy”
American R&B and soul singer-songwriter Macy Gray has released a new song “Sugar Daddy” with accompanying music video, directed by Christian Lamb.
The song will appear on her upcoming 10th studio album "Ruby", which is set to be released on September 7th. The track was co-written by Meghan Trainor, who recently released two new singles "Let You Be Right" and "Can't Dance".
The video is inspired by Diana Ross’ portrayal of Billie Holiday in the 1972 biographical classic “Lady Sings The Blues.”
The clip was filmed at Pour Vous in Los Angeles and features Evan Ross, who is Diana Ross’ son.
Macy Gray said of the song, "I love this song, I loved making it. I believe it's going to be the song of the summer."
The album "Ruby" is her first since 2016's "Stripped" and features a guest appearance from guitarist Gary Clark Jr.
Also, Johan Carlsson, Tommy Brown, and Tommy Parker Lumpkins helped produce the album.- source : Rolling Stone
