Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ The Anti-Queens Releases New Song “Crusade”
Toronto-based punk rock band The Anti-Queens, consisting of Emily Bones (lead vocals/guitar), Valerie Knox (lead guitar/vocals), Michael Amaral (bass) and Zoe McMillan (drums), released the second single called “Crusade” from their upcoming sophomore album “Disenchanted” on April 24, 2024.
The new album is set to be released on May 17, 2024 via Stomp Records.
The song delves into the topic of systemic oppression faced by minority groups, particularly Indigenous Peoples in Canada.
The track was written by Emily Jones, Michael Amaral, Tracy Ashenden, and Valerie North. Produced by Steve Rizun and Dave Baksh.
The band said of the song, “The song 'Crusade' delves into the oppression of minority groups, particularly the Indigenous Peoples in Canada. Reality reveals a history of land theft, forced assimilation and cultural erasure, where colonizers impose their values and religion while kidnapping and committing murder.- They continued, “At the heart of it all, despite these atrocities, many of us yearn for peace, reconciliation, and equality for all, including minorities, and advocate for an end to the perpetuation of falsehoods in education. It's crucial for white individuals and colonizers to acknowledge the truth and stop the cycle of misinformation. There is no pride in genocide.”

The accompanying music video was directed by Michael Crusty, who filmed at The Biltmore Theatre in Oshawa.
The video features Tracy A from Cross Dog and Ale Serritiello on drums.
The City of Oshawa is situated on lands within the traditional and treaty territory of the Michi Saagiig and Chippewa Anishinaabeg and the signatories of the Williams Treaties, which include the Mississaugas of Scugog Island, Hiawatha, Curve Lake, and Alderville First Nations, and the Chippewas of Georgina Island, Rama and Beausoleil First Nations.
