Canadian singer-songwriter Kristian North will release his upcoming sophomore album “Passion Play” on April 30, 2021. It is his first album in three years.
From the album, he unveiled the third single called “Shadow Of The Pyramids”, following “Genius Of Song” and “Fantasy”.
The accompanying music video was directed by Beatrice Scharf-Pierzchala.
Kristian North said of the song, “This was the first song we recorded for the record. In many ways it set the tone for the record. We laboured on it just till the end. I was listening to a lot of '70s soul and tried a falsetto. Psychedelic is one of those words that's used loosely, but it’s how I'd categorize this one. Kind of apocalyptic and nostalgic.”- Beatrice Scharf-Pierzchala said of the video, “I wanted to paint Kristian as this torn-up magic man who loses control of his show. Usually the magician’s assistant is the one getting cut in half- I thought it would be fun to bring in my favourite Montreal queen, The Olympia, to turn the tables around. It’s about the ride of getting lost in something that you maybe won’t win.”
