Skye Newman Releases New Song “Family Matters”
London-based singer-songwriter Skye Newman released a brand new song “Family Matters” on May 16, 2025.
The song is the her second single, following her debut song “Hairdresser”, which was released earlier this month.
Last week, she teased the song on BBC Radio 1's Future Artists with Sian Eleri.
As with the debut single, Skye Newman worked with producers Boo and Luis Navidad on the track.
Skye Newman told Sian Eleri about the song, “So that song is very personal to me, but I also feel like so universal as well. I'm a council estate girl and I've seen and dealt with a lot of things at such a young age, which I think so many people coming from my lifestyle would understand. And again, like I said, it makes me happy and sad that people relate, because obviously sad for the sake of people understand that feeling and have dealt with that pain and whatever they've had to get through. But happy that I can write something that makes them feel at ease that they're not alone in that issue. And I feel like I'm just gonna be a voice for so many people that probably felt that they didn't have one. And to know that you're not alone in anything. No matter what it is, no matter how crazy it may be. There is someone else in the world that relates.”- source : BBC Radio 1
