British singer-songwriter Olly Alexander's solo project Years & Years released a cover of British rapper Estelle's “American Boy” on August 5, 2022.
The original version of the song was released by Estelle from her sophomore album “Shine” in 2008. The track features American rapper Kanye West.
It was written by Estelle, West, Ethan Hendrickson, will.i.am, John Legend, Josh Lopez, Caleb Speir, and Keith Harris.
The song reached No. 1 on the UK Sjngles chart and No. 9 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Olly Alexander shared on social media, “Hiiii I’ve done a cover of the amazing American Boy by Estelle. I can really relate to Estelle , I’ve fallen for more than a few American boys.
