Canadian singer-songwriter Bill Majoros, aka The Foreign Films returned with a new song “The Fortune Teller (Pretty in the City)” alongside a music video.
The song is the first single off of his upcoming seventh studio album “Starlight Serenade”, which is set to be released on August 27, 2021.
It was written by Bill Majoros and co-produced by Carl Jennings.
Bill Majoros shared on social media, “In these dark times, music keeps our sense of wonder alive – it shines a bright light. My new song, “The Fortune Teller (Pretty in The City)” is about finding magic and beauty in a heartbroken world. As a kid, I remember going to the Crystal Beach amusement park and hearing a vintage radio show blasting through the old speakers. When recording this track, I wanted to conjure up the atmosphere of a carnival by the sea, a sound from a place almost lost in time and memory. It was with this ethos I created a retro futuristic sound, combining 60s inspired drums, 70s guitars, and 80s synthesizers.”- He continued, “The Fortune Teller (Pretty in The City)” came to me via a strange, mysterious dream. Half asleep, I picked up my trusty old guitar and the song came to me in a flash! I think of dreams as the jukebox of my imagination; songs and fables glowing in the dark, waiting to be discovered and played. I hope you are able to reflect on the themes of serendipity, fate, and mystical predictions in your own experience as you listen.”
