This Boy Electric Releases New Song “See What I See” featuring Nova Nardi
- Toronto based electronic music producer This Boy Electric has collaborated with Canadian pop singer-songwriter Nova Nardi for a new song “See What I See”.
The track follows up “This Now Forever” featuring Calcedon, which was released last September.
“'See What I See' (ft. Nova Nardi) was written during a really tough breakup. I was pretty lost in grief, but during the periods of writing this song I had a bit of reprieve, able to forget everything and get lost in the process,” This Boy Electric explained of the song. “In the movie Christopher Robin, there's this wide shot scene where Winnie the Pooh is sitting on this big rolling hill by a tree holding a balloon. The sweetness and loneliness of that image was something that really made me think about my song. Originally I was going to recreate something like that for the cover art, but timing and our snowy winter didn't allow for it.”
- He continued, “One of the things I love about 80s pop is the upbeat feel of the music contrasting with rather dour lyrical subjects. In this song, the juxtaposition frames the protagonist of the story in a very sweet, naive way. She wants him to "See What I See" but it's clear that won't happen. I can't imagine anyone other than Nova Nardi singing it. We had been working on some other material, and when I played her this song, she said she loved it and wanted to do it.”
