  • Adult Leisure Releases New EP “Present State of Joy and Grief”

  • Bristol-based alt-rock band Adult Leisure, consisting of Neil Scott (vocals), David Woolford (guitar), James Laing (bass) and Nathan Searle (drums), released their sophomore EP “Present State of Joy and Grief” on November 10, 2023.

It is their first project in almost one year since the 2022 EP “The Weekend Ritual”.
The EP comprises 4-track, featuring a guest appearances from Milo Gore and FARE.
All tracks were written by Adult Leisure and produced by Ollie Searle.
The band said of the EP, “When we began working on what would become Present State, we set out to create a cohesive body of work that felt true to the band we are now and the place that we're at in our lives. Lathered in waves of self reflection and acceptance of life's heavy hands, our sophomore EP is drenched in honesty, whilst full of groove and fury in equal measure.”
  • Adult Leisure explained about some tracks for the EP.

    “All For You”
“Although the theme of self-reflection is rife throughout 'Present State Of Joy & Grief', our 2nd single 'All For You' looks upon a fragmented bond, infidelity and loss. We wanted to tell a unique yet completely universal story. Every moment of heartbreak captured across 4 minutes.”

  • “Bad Idea”
“Bad idea' is an honest answer to the relationships that we lie about to keep the peace, and avoid the new and unknown. It's an introspective yet universal song of acceptance of unhappiness. It's a raw and honest take on the struggles we face in relationships, and it really solidifies the sound of our band. The lyrics are honest and relatable, and we hope that they will resonate with anyone who's ever been in a similar situation. We're really proud of this track, and we feel like it's a great representation of who we are as a band. If our first EP was an introduction, then Bad Idea is the conversation. It concretes who we are as a group and has finely tuned influences to create a more filtered and bigger sound.”
