British-Australian singer-songwriter Ruel Van Dijk, aka Ruel released a new song “YOU AGAINST YOURSELF” along with a music video.
The song will appear on his upcoming debut album.
It was written by Emma Harris, M-Phazes, Ruel Van Dijk and Sammy Witte. Produced by M-Phazes and Sammy Witte.
The accompanying video was directed by Grey Ghost (Jeremy Koren).
“'YOU AGAINST YOURSELF' is about someone in my life who has lots of self-destructing qualities,” Ruel said of the song. “It's about that feeling of reaching out to them to let them know the direction they're heading in isn't healthy and even though it seems like there's little hope and you feel helpless, you're still rooting for them.”
The debut album is expected to be released in 2022. He made the album during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He told ABC triple j, “When COVID came along I honed in on my skills. [I] tried to write a bunch of shit and I felt myself getting a lot better…I felt a huge ownership over [the album], because a lot of it is more me than anything [else]… I'm really excited about this, more so than any other project I've done.”- 6RjKmZi0wsU
