The Weeknd Releases New Album “Dawn FM”: Streaming
- Canadian singer-songwriter The Weeknd released his fifth studio album “Dawn FM” with an accompanying new music video for “Sacrifice” directed by Cliqua via XO and Republic Records on January 7, 2022.
Alongside the release of the album, he hosted a live event with Amazon Music at a club in which he served as a disc-jockey playing his whole album.
Canadian-American actor Jim Carrey joined in the album as a narrater. Jim Carrey said, “I listened to Dawn FM with my good friend Abel The Weeknd last night. It was deep and elegant and it danced me around the room. I'm thrilled to play a part in his symphony.”
Also, the album features guest appearances from Tyler, The Creator and Lil Wayne.
The album comprises 16-track, featuring FM radio program style. When the album starting, Jim Carrey narrated, “You are now listening to 103.5 Dawn FM. You've been in the dark for way too long. It's time to walk into the light and accept your fate with open arms. Scared? Don't worry. We'll be there to hold your hand and guide you through this painless transition. But what's the rush? Just relax and enjoy another hour of commercial 'free yourself' music on 103.5 Dawn FM. Tune in.”
The Weeknd told Billboard about the album, “Picture the album being like the listener is dead. And they're stuck in this purgatory state, which I always imagined would be like being stuck in traffic waiting to reach the light at the end of the tunnel. And while you're stuck in traffic, they got a radio station playing in the car, with a radio host guiding you to the light and helping you transition to the other side. So it could feel celebratory, could feel bleak, however, you want to make it feel, but that's what 'The Dawn' is for me.”
