11-time World champion Kelly Slater invited Gerry Lopez to his the Surf Ranch, where they checked whether the right worked at the same time as the left or the right was sacrificed for the left.
The King of Pipeline, Gerry Lopez was the first to sample it and said, “Whether it’s here or Speed Reef at G-Land, this is as pure as it gets. Kelly has created the quintessential perfect wave. And to be able to get that over and over again is really going to push the envelope of surfing like it’s never been pushed before.”
Gerry Lopez kicked out of his first wave, afterwards he said, “that’s the future, bro.”
To date, many surfers surf at Surf Ranch, but it was only at the right. Six months ago, Kelly Slater cryptically hinted at a left at his Surf Ranch. “The goofyfooters might be pretty excited too,” he said.
Kelly Slater plans to take place a WSL event at the Ranch sometime. Rumors have been circulating about the WSL invite-only event at the Ranch sometime around the Lowers event with some of the world’s best surfers in mid-September, to test out the pool’s capabilities and possible contest formats.- source : Sufline
