American singer-songwriter Amy Allen, who is better known as a songwriter for Harry Styles, Tate McRae, Justin Timberlake, Sabrina Carpenter, Shawn Mendes, Olivia Rodrigo and more, released a new song “girl with a problem” along with a music video on May 1, 2024.
The song is her solo music in two years since the 2022 single “Couldn't Forget You” from the Original Motion Picture “Paws of Fury”.soundtrack.
She co-wrote the song with producer Jake Weinberg. It marks their first collaboration together.
The music video was directed by Alex Bittan.
Amy Allen said of the song, “I wrote 'girl with a problem' when I was in the throes of a relationship I could feel was slowly turning into something ugly and unsustainable, and making the conscious decision to overlook every pitfall for the sake of loving a boy. Turns out it's incredibly problematic how good our hearts are at overriding our guts.”- Amy Allen shared on social media, “I started writing this song a year and a half ago in my kitchen, and knew I loved something about it, but I wasn't really writing much for myself at the time so I kinda just assumed it'd join my thousands of other half written songs in my demo graveyard. But then the next day, while I was listening to a random playlist while driving, I heard a production I loveddd, so I looked up the producer and fully slid into his dms asking where in the world he lived, and if he'd ever want to work with me loll. Luckily he lived in LA, and I brought this idea into him the next week and we finished it together, and a year and a half later Jake Weinberg is one of my fav ppl and collaborators ive ever known. ty for putting so much love into girl with a problem and so many more songs to come jakey ;)”
