Sunday (1994) Releases New EP “Devotion”
Los Angeles-based indie-rock trio Sunday (1994), consisting of Paige Turner (vocals), Lee Newell (guitar) and Puma (drums), released their sophomore EP “Devotion” on May 9, 2025 via Arista Records.
The EP is the follow-up to their self-titled debut EP, which was released last May.
The EP comprises 6 tracks, produced by Lee Newell. All songs were written by Paige Turner and Lee Newell.
As the biblical reference and the project’s title suggest, the EP tackles matters of the heart and soul.
The band said of the EP, “We are thrilled to unveil Devotion, our second EP, a fevered companion to our first. Each song converses, conspires, or continues the story of one that came before. Which basically means they’re connected. You have to figure out which ones and how. Answers on a post card. We won't tell you which; discovery is far more divine. Call it a psalm for the disenchanted. Or... an EP. Whatever you prefer.”- The band explained about some tracks for the EP.
“Devotion”
“A love letter scrawled on the back of a beer mat, about a night in an English pub where the ceilings sag, the ale is flat, and the heart, against all good sense, rises.”
“Doomsday”
“When a rare good mood strikes, we must act — so naturally, we wrote a song called “Doomsday.” It’s not about the end of the world, but rather the end of your world. When a miracle happens and we actually get what we want, we can’t help but wonder: When is it all going to go wrong? Good, old-fashioned existentialism. Pair that with some guitar that’s as silky as a gigolo’s compliment, and you have “Doomsday.” -
“Rain”
“A devotion so deep, it borders on doom, where love clings to the wreckage of crime and consequence. If fate demands suffering, then let it be shared; whether in a lover’s arms or behind prison bars.”
“Silver Ford”
“It’s a song about a clandestine love waged against the grim authority of religion. A whispered rebellion, dreaming of trading a colourless life of loneliness for a sun-kissed world where love writes the only scripture.”
