  • Obongjayar Premieres New Song “Jellyfish” on BBC Radio 1

  • London-based Nigerian singer-songwriter Obongjayar premiered a new song “Jellyfish” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

The song is the fourth single off of his upcoming sophomore “Paradise Now”, which is set to be released on May 30, 2025.
This time, Obongjayar co-wrote the song with Irish post-punk band Fontaines D.C.'s guitarist Carlos O'Connell and London-based producer Kwes Darko.

Obongjayar told Jack Saunders about the song, “I mean, it's with Kwes Darko, who you know, and Carlos O'Connell from Fontaines, who you also know. These are really good friends of mine, and Kwes made a lot of the record. And we started the record together, actually. And Carlos came in and he added himself to it, which is really added a lot to the to the tune.”
  • He continued, “He (Carlos O'Connell) brought the guitar and he played on the second verse of the tune. The kind of South, but I call it the south parky guitar playing. And he brought that element, and he wasn't actually meant to play anything in the studio. He just came down to listen and just hang out with us. And I was playing some records, and then he just, he came down with all of his stuff, wrote a bunch of stuff down and like, 'Do you know? Why don't you see where you can where you can play? Place on this thing?' And then that's how this song was born.”

  • The new album comprises 15 tracks, featuring a guest appearance from London-based English-Nigerian rapper Little Simz.

Obongjayar said of the album title, “It is a demand. Because I feel like you can't preempt and you can't look back. So I think it's important to be to soak in the now. Be present and enjoy the now, because there is no future. There is no past. All you have is now. Enjoy it, feel it, soak in it, because that's what you have. You can't be doom and gloom. I mean, you can be doom and gloom, but be excited about it.”
