Wolf Alice Announces New Album “The Clearing”, Premieres New Song “Bloom Baby Bloom” on BBC Radio 1
London-based alt-rock band Wolf Alice, consisting of Ellie Rowsell (vocals/guitar), Joff Oddie (guitar), Theo Ellis (bass) and Joel Amey (drums), has announced their upcoming fourth studio album “The Clearing” will be released on August 29, 2025.
It is their first album in four years since the 2021 album “Blue Weekend”. The band recorded the album in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
From the album, the band premiered the first single “Bloom Baby Bloom” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
The song is accompanied by the Colin Solal Cardo-directed music video.
It was written by Ellie Rowsell, Joel Amey, Jonathan Oddie, and Theo Ellis. Produced by Greg Kurstin.
The band lead singer Ellie Rowsell said of the song, “I wanted a rock song, to focus on the performance element of a rock song and sing like Axl Rose, but to be singing a song about being a woman. I've used the guitar as a shield in the past, playing it has perhaps been some way to reject the 'girl singer in band' trope, but I wanted to focus on my voice as a rock instrument so it's been freeing to put the guitar down and reach a point where I don't feel like I need to prove that I'm a musician.”- Ellie Rowsell told Jack Saunders about the video, “I don't think we've done much stuff with dance before. And I think there was something about the Joel drumbeat in this song. I was like, Oh, this is the view we need to see people dancing to this. And we work with Ryan Heffington, who I feel like he's so good at drawing out the lyrics in dance form. And honestly, when he showed us the routine and stuff, I just burst out crying, was so moving. It was so amazing to see someone translate your work into their work. Especially, I love watching people dance, so cool.”

The new album comprises 11 track, which the band worked with producer Greg Kurstin in Los Angeles.
The band guitarist Joff Oddie said of working with Greg Kurstin, “We did this in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. We worked with Greg Kurstin who is a big famous pop producer, and probably one of the nicest men in the world, right? And it was a ball. I think it's probably one of the most incredible recording experiences we've ever had. Greg is like, such a generous guy. He is like, the most amazing musician I've ever seen. And we've got to hang out in LA Ford, which is cool.”
