Dropsonic Releases New Song “This Ain't Living”
Atlanta-based rock trio Dropsonic, consisting of Dan Dixon (vocals/guitar), Chandler Rentz (drums) and David Chase (bass), released a new song “This Ain't Living” on April 30, 2025.
The song is the third single off of their upcoming self-titled seventh album, following “Honeytrap” and “So Long”.
The album is set to be released on May 16, 2025 via Spartan Records.
On the track, in an era where digital production dominates, Dropsonic delivers something raw and visceral. Their signature blend of thunderous riffs, fiery solos, and a razor-tight rhythm section remains intact.
The track was written by Chandler Rentz, Dan Dixon, and David Chase. Produced by Dan Dixon and William DuVall.
The band frontman Dan Dixon said of the song, “‘This Ain’t Living’ closes out the record. It ends with the final death rattle of my echoplex as the tape inside chokes on itself. Not a bad sound.”- The new album “Dropsonic” comprises 8 songs, which the band recorded with a new drummer Chandler Rentz and co-producer William DuVall
It is their first album in 15 years since the 2010 album “VI”.
The album's lyrics dive into themes of desperation, love, addiction, narcissism, and money-balancing raw, spontaneous moments with high-fidelity production.
Dan Dixon said of working with William DuVall, “William’s been a close friend for years and deeply understands what Dropsonic is about. He was the first person I called when I needed perspective. His guidance was invaluable-and he even contributed backup vocals on 'Honeytrap.'”
Co-producer William DuVall added, “Dan had been sending me works-in-progress for feedback, but the real joy was being there to watch him work. Dropsonic is one of the best rock bands to come out of America in the last thirty years.” -
