Luvcat Premieres New Song “Lipstick” on BBC Radio 1
British singer-songwriter Luvcat premiered a new song “Lipstick” on BBC Radio 1's Future Artists with Sian Eleri.
The song is the second single of 202t, following “Love & Money” released back in February.
The track is accompanied by a music video, which was directed by Luvcat and Oliver Bradley-Baker.
It was written by Archie Faulks, and Sophie Morgan Howarth. Produced by Oli Barton Wood, who also produced her previous songs “Love & Money”, “Dinner @ Brasserie Zédel”, and “He's My Man”.
Luvcat said of the song, “'Lipstick' is a song about love and kink. The desire to please and feel like a little doll to be played with but shown tenderness and devotion in equal measure. It came from meeting a man who called me 'doll'.”
She continued, “The music video was inspired by my favourite scene from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang 'Doll on a Music Box'. I used to dress up as her as a kid... a wind up doll come to life to terrorize the town. Some things never change I guess.”- Luvcat told Sian Eleri about the song, “We've been teasing it for a while, actually. And people have been getting kind of cross with me because we've took a little while to release it. But it's because I wanted to make this mad music video that took a little bit of time. It's about being a doll. A man that I met would call me doll as my nickname. And the concept is kind of about a doll with a real sacred, tender sweetheart. It's like a sexy song, but there's a moment of tenderness at the end of it.”

Luvcat will perform at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend Liverpool 2025 on May 24, 2025. Liverpool is home soil.
She said, “It feels so sweet and serendipitous that the first time I'm ever playing a big weekend is it's on home soil. So I can't wait, and I'm maybe gonna wear something Liverpool seems because I'm a big red so I try and glam up the football kit.”
