Laufey Announces New Album “A Matter Of Time”, Shares New Song “Tough Luck”
Icelandic-Chinese jazz singer-songwriter Laufey has announced her upcoming third studio album “A Matter Of Time” will be released on August 22, 2025 via AWAL.
The album is her first LP in two years since the 2023 album “Bewitched”.
On the album, she worked with co-producers Spencer Stewart and Aaron Dessner.
From the album, she released a new dong “Tough Luck” on May 15, 2025.
The song is the second single off of the album, following “Silver Lining” released last month.
It was written and produced by Laufey and Spencer Stewart.
Laufey said of the song, “'Tough Luck' is a fiery song about love gone wrong. I wanted to reveal an angrier side of myself - a side that this unfortunate relationship brought out in me.”- The new album comprises 14 tracks. Laufey said of the album, “Every new album for me is a blank book of stories to write. I'm constantly thinking about classical and jazz, how to properly preserve them and pay homage. For this album, I just wanted to let my heart wander.”
She added, “People expect a pretty façade of girly clothes, fantastical stories, and romantic music. This time, I was interested in seeing how I could draw out the most flawed parts of myself and look at them directly in the mirror.” -
