Tune-Yards Releases New Song “How Big Is The Rainbow”
Oakland–based alt-pop band Tune-Yards, consisting of Merrill Garbus (vocals/percussion) and Nate Brenner (bass), will release their sixth studio album “Better Dreaming” this Friday (May 16th) via 4AD.
The album comprises 11 tracks, produced by Merrill Garbus and Nate Brenner. It is their first album in four years since the 2021 album “Sketchy”.
From the album, the band released the third and final pre-release single “How Big Is The Rainbow” on May 13, 2025.
The song is accompanied by the Dominic Mercurio-directed music video, which features Los Angeles-based comedian/actress Star Amerasu.
The track was written and produced by Merrill Garbus and Nate Brenner.- The band lead singer Merrill Garbus said of the song, “The title lyric came out in a flash, and felt more sincere than I’ve ever been lyrically, maybe. But in this day and age, there is no room for subtlety when it comes to advocating for every single human being, for our trans family especially. And SHIT, how big IS the fucking rainbow?! It feels like the time to prove it to each other, to show each other how big it can be.”
