  • Billy Nomates Premieres New Song “Override” on BBC Radio 6

  • Bristol-based singer-songwriter Billy Nomates will release her third studio album “Metalhorse” this Friday (May 16th).

From the album, she premiered a new song “Override” on BBC Music 6 Journeys In Sound with Nemone Metaxas.
The song is the third and final pre-release single.
It was written and produced by Tor Maries, with production by James Trevascus.

“Override, it's very much 'Go Your Own Way'. It's like my Fleetwood Mac on 'Go Your Own Way'. That's what it is,” Billy Nomates told Nemone Metaxas about the song. “I think everyone's been in a position where they go I hear what you're saying. I need to operate override. I'm going to do this. And I think I needed to say that to myself. I needed to say that to things around me again. It's a letter to me. You'd love the fair to go down. You'd love to leave. But you're not going to like, I am a constant conflict on war with myself, mainly, and sometimes these songs are very much from one side of the brain to the other.”
  • The new album comprises 11 tracks, featuring a guest appearance from British singer-songwriter Hugh Cornwell, produced by Tor Maries and James Trevascus. It is her first album in two years since the 2023 album “Cacti”.
She recorded the album three months after the passing of her father.

Billy Nomates said of the album, “To me, Metalhorse is this crumbling fairground where some rides are nice to get on and some rides aren't. That's how life felt for a minute, and it still feels like that a bit now. Those Leonard Cohen days might be ahead of me, but for now there has to be some hope, even if it's not real. You have to tell someone that it's going to be alright.”
