  • PinkPantheress Releases New Mixtape “Fancy That”

  • London-based singer-songwriter PinkPantheress released her second mixtape “Fancy That” on May 9, 2025 via Warner Records.

The mixtape is her third project following the 2021 mixtape “To Hell with It” and the 2023 debut album “Heaven Knows”.
The mixtape comprises 9 tracks, produced by PinkPantheress, aksel arvid, Count Baldor, Glasear, Jkarri, phil, Oscar Scheller, and The Dare.
PinkPantheress said that “Fancy That” is not album. She said, “It’s not, it’s not an album per se, it is a, it’s like, it’s basically an album but it’s, I’m not gonna call it an album ‘cause an album is too long. Not too serious for an album, it’s like, it’s a full-length project.”

PinkPantheress said of the mixtape, “This is my third project and my lord it’s my favourite, a complete archive of how I’ve been experimenting and feeling free to use some of my favourite British influences in my current music. I want this project to be diverse somewhat, but still at its core a summer bop for a lot of people!.
  • She continued, “This one is about letting go, I’ve always been trying to strike a balance between being a popstar and also being experimental. I loved the size of the music, all the music sounds so big and grand and present, and I really wanted to make music where it sounds like a statement is being made with the songs. I feel like that was what appealed to me, and it’s something that I wanted to take on board. For this upcoming project I asked the mixers to not make it too clean because I like the way my voice sounds when it’s not too polished.”

She added, “Announcing this tape marks a huge milestone for me as an artist. This feels like the most tied together project I’ve applied myself to as an artist and for my fans who have been with me for years, I hope they can hear the signs of growth in me as an artist.”

  • PinkPantheress explained about some tracks for the mixtape.

    Illegal”
“‘Illegal’ feels like coming home, it’s garage, gritty, and takes me right back to where I started with music. I’ve always loved that raw, late-night energy, and sampling Underworld felt like the perfect way to tap into that spirit while making it my own.”

    “Girl Like Me”
    sampling Basement Jaxx’s “Romeo”.
“My personal fave, ‘Romeo’ by Basement Jaxx, brought an infectious energy that kept me motivated.”

    “Tonight”
“My first attempt at UK bassline and the first song in which I use a profanity. Could this get any more serious???? Hope you enjoy.”

    “Stars”
sampling Just Jack’s 2007 debut single “Starz in Their Eyes”.
“I think it’s cool. If a massive chunk of the chorus had been sampled I might feel differently but as it’s the instrumental section I’m happy. A lot of people might not recognize the sample so it just makes me smile. It was a nice surprise.”

    “Noises”
“It really does play into my strengths. When I came out in 2021 I was doing a lot of drum and bass. That’s song’s very drum and bass and it definitely is the most nostalgic one for fans of mine.”

    “Nice to Know You”
“'Nice to Know You' was like, the last song that I accepted to be on it [Fancy That] and that was like, made very last minute. If anyone can clock the sample at first listen I’ll be very shocked and very surprised happily. There’s actually a Sugababes sample that's in a song called 'Nice to Know You.' They did a song with William Orbit, he was the guy that produced for Britney Spears a lot. Madonna, 'Frozen,' 'Ray Of Light,' so I feel like a lot of Sugababes fans won’t probably know that they had a song with William Orbit.”

    “Stateside”
“When I was writing Stateside, I guess I was, in a weird way, a cheeky mood in a very longing and maybe a mood in which I was missing someone, I suppose. And I think this has been super important to me, to kind of find an outlet to express my emotions. I made this with The Dare. Well, we made it together in New York. I thought he was British when I first met him. He wasn't British. I was very surprised he looks so British. I don't know if it's his hair or his energy, but I was very deceived, because I try and work with only British producers. We made the song. It's my favorite of my I think of my discography thus far. It really does hone in on the fact that after years of trying in the UK dating scene, I've now given up on British men.”

    “Romeo”
“Writing demos for artists/groups and the brief is: 2007 high school movie soundtrack.”
