Canadian singer-songwriter Ellie Gadzos released her debut song “Fiji” on July 9, 2021 via Cadence Recordings.
The track was written by Derek Michael Hoffman, Ellie Gadzos and Seth Bayly Meyer.
When I wrote my tropics-inspired debut single "Fiji," I was in a really bad place at school, wanting to fit a certain mould and be popular. I kind of lost myself in the process, so getting away to find me and my happiness again was the only thing on my mind,” Ellie Gadzos explained of the song. “I think everyone has wanted to run away and restart at some point. My biggest wish was to leave my life in Ottawa and start fresh on an island. At the time, rumours kept me apart from the person I had feelings for, and it made me think that if we could disappear and get away, it would solve all of our problems.
