Left Field Messiah Drops New Music Video for “Feels Like Summer”
- Indie super project Left Field Messiah, consisting of Steve Bays (Hot Hot Heat), Jeremy Ruzumna (Fitz and The Tantrums) and Erik Janson (Wildling), unveiled a new song “Feels Like Summer” on June 4, 2021.
The song will appear on their upcoming debut album “In Praise Of Bombast”, which is set to be released on June 18th.
The music video for the song was premiered on June 11th, and directed by Steve Bays.
The band shared on social media, “We met in a small movie theatre behind Fonogenic Studios in LA where we wrote our first song Are You Ready in August of 2018. We had one version that Jeremy Ruzumna felt we could beat so we re-recorded it as you’ll hear it as song 1 on the album. This really was a passion project for us in its purest form shuttling back and forth between LA and Vancouver and then finishing it remotely during the pandemic. We’d try one idea and then another, and another until we were hearing music coming out of the speakers that we wanted to hear and had no questions about. In search of our own entertainment making these songs we hoped others would enjoy what captivated us most.”
- The band told INDIE88 about the song, “I think the most unique aspect of this song’s recording process is how we nearly didn’t finish writing it. Steve was in L.A. for a week and we started 'Feels Like Summer' in the 11th hour of our trip and stayed up all night trying to finish it. I remember we got to the bridge and it was 3:45 am and Steve had a ride coming to pick him up at 5 am to get to the airport. We hit a serious roadblock and couldn’t finish the last few lines of the bridge. It was a classic case of overthinking or over complicating and at 4:45 am, Steve said hit record and sang “our life could be so simple, this life could be so simple, our life could be so simple.” He said, 'guys the song’s done, I have to go.' He jumped into a car and the song was finished and I can’t imagine better lines to end on.”
Left Field Messiah started working together in 2020. The band released the debut song “AM Moonlight” in September 2020.
