Alma Grace Releases Debut EP “Frida”: Streaming
- Mexican-American singer-songwriter Alma Grace released her debut EP “Frida” on May 5, 2021.
The EP comprises of 4-track, including preceding singles “Girl Fight” and “Aventura,” as well as two brand new tracks. Produced by Dave Berg and Chedda.
The EP is inspired by Mexican painter Frida. Alma Grace shared on social media, “In contrast to the casting directors and classmates who criticized me for not being "white enough," Frida made me feel beautiful for my bushy eyebrows and black hair. I read all about her life, watched countless documentaries, and filled up a notebook with stories and quotes from her life. A few years after I started songwriting, I realized that I had the foundation for a full length project inspired by Frida.”
- She continued, “Half of the EP is, in many ways, a time capsule––I wrote "Girl Fight" and "Relámpago" during my freshman year in my college piano practice room. Those demos (produced by Dave Berg and co-written by NISHA) sat around on my hard drive for 2 years. "Aventura" was written over Zoom with Chase Coy, who is based in Nashville, during the height of the pandemic. "Aztlán" I wrote in Greenpoint with my producer, Chedda, this summer right before heading to a new university.”
She added, “When I listen to these songs, I hear my transformation from an angsty teen to a semi-independent young adult. It's such a special project to me, and I knew that it had to be my artist introduction to the world.”
