Royal Blood Releases New Album “Typhoons”: Streaming
- British rock duo Royal Blood, consisting of Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher, released their third studio album “Typhoons” on April 30, 2021 via Warner Records. It is their first album in four years.
The album comprises of 11-track, produced by Royal Blood, Josh Homme and Paul Epworth. All songs were written by Royal Blood.
The band began recording the album in early 2019 and recording stretched into early 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in England. But the band wrote additional songs during the pandemic.
Mike Kerr shared on social media, “It's with a great sense of pride and joy we can officially say our third studio album Typhoons is out now!! The journey we have been on to make this record is one that started the very moment Ben Thatcher and I first met at 16 years old. We have spent the best half of our lives investing in our friendship and chemistry as musicians and it has taken us on a cosmic voyage we couldn't have dreamed of.”
He continued, “Over two years ago I decided to sort my life out and get completely sober. My life had become unmanageable. Had I not done this, this album would not exist along with lots of other things I dread to think about. I came out of the dark and into the light and this is exactly what this album represents. No matter how bad the storm, all things must pass.”
“We sort of stumbled on this sound, and it was immediately fun to play,” he said. “That's what sparked the creativity on the new album, the chasing of that feeling. It's weird, though – if you think back to 'Figure it Out,' (from debut album) it kind of contains the embryo of this album. We realized that we didn't have to completely destroy what we'd created so far; we just had to shift it, change it. On paper, it's a small reinvention. But when you hear it, it sounds so fresh.”
