The track was written by Matthew Phelan and Sophie Bond. Produced by MAFRO.
MAFRO told Clara Amfo about the collaboration with IYAMAH, “I mean, she's just incredibly talented. I wanted to put that out there straightaway. So like, I was a bit intimidated because she's so good. And she was one of the first people I worked with when I started my project. And we got in got working really quick and she's so fast and so talented. She just whacked it out straight away. And she obviously had the background she had the experience and she had the story as to why a kind of really emotional track like this. And I think she smashed it out of the park and I'm really happy that we got it to this place. Took a few years. It took a while to get it there. I did maybe 20 different versions of this.”
- MAFRO shared on social media, “The final track from my EP Higher. I'm very pleased to share “No Teacher” with you. IYAMAH was the first artist I worked with when I started this project, so it seems fitting to finish off the EP with this single! In her own words 'the track is about owning your scars, turning pain into power… lessons that make us who we are. Thicker skinned, take no shit kinda vibe!' I hope the track helps you find your power like it did for us.”
