Katelyn Tarver Releases New Song “Friend Like You”
Last month, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Katelyn Tarver announced that her sophomore album “Quitter” would be released on February 9, 2024.
It is her first album in three years since the 2021 debut album “Subject to Change”.
The album comprises 11-track, where she co-wrote with Adam Yaron, and collaborated with co-writer Delacey, producers Scott Effman, and Chad Copelin.
Katelyn Tarver said of the album, “This album chronicles my experience of losing that lens on life and finding a new one. And the realization that 'looking back I only lost what I didn’t need'.”
From the album, she released seventh single called “Friend Like You” on November 17, 2023.
The track was written by Annika Bennett, Chad Copelin and Katelyn Tarver. Produced by Chad Copelin.
Katelyn Tarver said of the song, “This song went through so many rewrites. Trying to capture the sincere gratitude I have for my friends while also not making you want to vom was hard!!! Thankfully I had pros to help me Annika Bennett, Chad Copelin.”
- Before the release of the song, she released the album title track last month.
She said of the title track and album, “‘Quitter’ is about wanting to stop living for other people’s expectations of me, or for my younger self’s expectations of what my life should be like now. It’s about growing and changing, but in a way, that’s celebrating it instead of being scared of what the change might bring. That’s really what I wanted this album to encapsulate as a whole: the idea that, yes, there’s a lot of heaviness that comes with trying to figure these things out, but letting go of all those expectations can shed some of that heaviness. It’s about tapping into the freedom that comes with saying, ‘I don’t have to abide by any of those old rules. I can make the rules up myself.”
