LANY Releases New Song “Home Is Where The Hurt Is”
American pop-rock band LANY, consisting of Paul Jason Klein (vocals/guitar) and Jake Clifford Goss (drums), released a new song “Home Is Where The Hurt Is” along with a music video on September 12, 2023.
The song is the fifth single off of their upcoming fifth studio album “I Really Really Hope So”, which is due out on September 29, 2023.
The track was written by Paul Jason Klein, Philip Plested, Peter Kelleher, Ben Kohn, and Tom Barnes. Produced by Mike Crossey and LANY.
The accompanying video was directed by Antony Muse and Paul Klein.
Paul Jason Klein told Zane Lowe of Apple Music about the song, “I think that's the beautiful, like that's almost the beautiful redemption I've heard a lot of people refer to LANY shows as home. And sometimes, I mean, I feel like they are home as well. And it's a home that we built for ourselves. And I don't know if there's like a phrase - friends or the family that you choose or something like that.
But it is like, it's inspiring and it's encouraging to know that you can go and kind of make something for yourself. And where you've, where maybe you were disappointed in the past where things didn't live up to the certain expectations that you'd have liked them to, the ego. And you create that for yourself and you bring it in, you bring that to kids who need it as well.”
- Paul Jason Klein shared on social media, “not everything was perfect for most of us growing up, and there's a lot of pain attached to where we're from. for some of us, there was no other option than to leave everything we once knew to become everything we ever wanted to be.”
He continued, “songs like this aren't very popular to write, and they're not very fun to write either. they require a digging and a “reliving” that can be uncomfortable. but part of our calling in life, as lany, is to make people feel less alone by putting words to music that otherwise would be held inside - never expressed, never processed, and never heard.”
He added, “hate, worry, panic, shame, anger, guilt, stress, sadness, disappointment, jealousy, regret, and loneliness... when i moved from Oklahoma to LA to chase my dream, i brought everything with me, but i left the baggage behind.”
The new album comprises 13-track, produced by LANY, Mike Crossey and Paul Jason Klein.
