YUNGBLUD Returns With New Song “Lowlife”
British singer-songwriter YUNGBLUD returned with a new song “Lowlife” on June 7, 2023.
It is his first music since his self-titled third studio album, which was released last September.
The song received its first play during BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Clara Amfo.
Last week, hand-written notes by YUNGBLUD were sent to fans around the world, leading to locations in London, Los Angeles and Germany, where blacked-out cars with the single title spray-painted popped up, allowing fans to hear the track for the first time.
The track was written by Dominic Harrison, Paul Meany, and Jake Torrey. Produced by Paul Meany and YUNGBLUD.
“I wrote 'Lowlife' because I just didn't want to leave my house,” YUNGBLUD said of the song. “I was sick of people, of games, of myself, my friends, anytime I did anything some idiot had an opinion about it. What I should do or be.”- He continued, “The truth is I didn't want to be anything at all sometimes, I wanted to be nothing. So I just didn't leave bed. I was dissatisfied and craving some sort of boredom. The type of boredom where you sit in your house, in the same sheets and watch fucking mind numbing TV, so I wrote a song about it.”
He added, “I've not been going into the studio intent on making something like, 'Close To Me' [The Cure] or 'Born This Way' [Lady Gaga] or 'Life On Mars' [David Bowie],” he said. “We'd start with a blank canvas each time, bring up a beat and see what the fuck happens.” - source : BBC Radio 1
