Birdy Returns With New Song “Raincatchers”
British singer-songwriter Jasmine Van den Bogaerde, aka Birdy returned with a new song “Raincatchers” along with a music video on March 3, 2023.
The song is the first single from her upcoming fifth studio album “P O R T R A I T S”, which is expected to be released in July 2023.
Birdy shared on social media, “My new track Raincatchers. It's the first song from my new album , P O R T R A I T S , coming in July.”
The track was written by Anya Louise Jones, Barney Lister, and Jasmine Van den Bogaerde. Produced by Barney Lister.
The accompanying music video was directed by Max McLachlan.
Birdy told BBC Radio 2 Jo Whiley about the song, “This song, I wrote about a friend of mine who were inseparable and we were growing up and then I think as I started doing music, we sort of drifted apart because I was away all the time. But we always kind of came back to each other, but it was kind of about remembering when we were young and carefree. And also a lot about the inner child which a lot of the, the rest of the record is about as well. Just remembering that freeness and accepting the way you were when you were young.”- She continued, “I think I became quite grown up at a young age just because I was around older people at the time. And I actually now I feel younger than I was in, which is strange. I think I feel more relaxed in myself and I'm more able to have fun with things which is nice. I think I just thought you know, it was kind of a scary job to be at that age.”
The new album is her first project in two years since the 2021 album “Young Heart”.
Birdy embarks on her headline tour in Europe this spring. The tour kick off at Carlswerk Victoria in Cologne, Germany on March 26, 2023 and will concluded at 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin, Ireland on April 25, 2023.
