Canadian alt-pop singer-songwriter VENNA, formerly Shay Esposito, released a new song “Only” on August 5, 2022.
The song is the third single off of 2022, following “Cross My Heart”, and “Echo”.
VENNA said of the song, “In line with my other releases this year, 'Only' was inspired by a toxic relationship dynamic. This song explores the weaponization of infidelity between two people who've both been hurt before, and their fight for power over one another.”
She continued, “The relationship I'm describing is a constant battle for the upper hand, and both people have been hurt so badly by the other. It's heartbreaking, but you really can't feel too bad for either person either.”
To date, VENNA released as Shay Esposito her debut album “For Annie” in 2014 at the age of 16, and the second album “Sunday” in 2017 at 19 years old.
In 2022, she rebranded as VENNA in order to further commit to the vision, style, and feel of what she wanted her brand and her music to be.- Photo by Tyler McIntyre
