Linkin Park Releases New Album “Meteora 20th Anniversary Edition”
American rock band Linkin Park released the 20th anniversary of their second studio album “Meteora” entitled “Meteora 20th Anniversary Edition” on April 7, 2023.
The album comprises 89-track, including the original 13-track, live sets in Texas and Nottingham, a collection of rarities from 2003-2004, and 19 demos.
The band member Mike Shinoda said, “For years, fans have been asking us to release something with Chester's (the late Chester Bennington) voice, and I'm thrilled we've been able to make that happen in such a special way. I think they're going to be floored when they hear and see all the incredible unreleased songs and video footage in Meteora 20.”
The original version, “Meteora” was released in March 2003. Produced by the band alongside Don Gilmore. The album title is taken from the Greek Orthodox monasteries originally bearing the name.
The album has sold around 16 million copies worldwide, making it the 8th best-selling album of the 21st century.
The band started writing the album “Meteora”, when they were touring behind the 2000 debut album “Hybrid Theory”.
Mike Shinoda told Zane Lowe of Apple Music, “One of the benefits of having a second album is to say, 'Okay, cool—you understand this much about us, let us fill in a lot of gaps and add a whole bunch of other colors'”
The band guitarist Brad Delson continued, “'Hybrid Theory' was like us against the world. What was both so liberating and terrifying about Meteora is, no one effed with us on Meteora. It was like, 'Okay, you guys did it. Now, what do you really want to do?' And this album was the total pure expression of 'This is us delivering what we want to make.'”
