Donate to support families affected by the crisis in Ukraine ➔ Tokyolite Returns With New Song “Radio Blues”
Indonesian pop-funk band Tokyolite, consists of Stevan Arianto (vocals/guitar), Alexander Bramono (bass), Rori Jiwa Putra (guitar), Bintang Aditya Putra (drums) and Ben Maspanger (keyboards), returned with a new song “Radio Blues” on December 16, 2022.
The song is their first music in three years since 2019 “Hantu”.
The track was written by Stevan Arianto, Alexander Bramono, Rori Jiwa Putra, Bintang Aditya Putra and Ben Maspanger. Produced by Tokyolite. Mixed and mastered by Irfan Ahmad in STB Studio
Alexander Bramono said of the song, “I actually wrote this song back in 2015 and at first it was just for fun. When I was writing this song, I was listening to indie pop music quite intensely, such as Belle and Sebastian, Sondre Lerche, Pizzicato Five. At first I thought I wouldn't enter for Tokyolite, but Rori and Bintang "forced" me to refine this song further and in the end, we sat down together and tried to process it together.”- Ben Maspanger continued, “We got a lot of knowledge after working with other producers, and now we are trying to apply some of the knowledge we got through this single. In this song the arrangement will be dominated by guitar stuffing. This is a challenge for me as a keyboardist. The recording process, which is mostly done at home, has also benefited me a lot, so I can explore sound more.”
Stevan Arianto added, “The first time I heard this song, the vocal arrangement was quite a big challenge because this is the original song from Alex and the way he took the vocals was very different from mine. We got zoomed in a few times to try to find a middle ground for the vocal arrangement so that it still fits me. Fortunately, we are all satisfied in the end hahaha.” -
