Nikki's Wives Premieres New Music Video for “Get Paid”
- Toronto-based indie pop trio Nikki's Wives dropped a new music video for “Get Paid” on April 16, 2018. The video was premiered exclusively on Celeb Mix.
The song was released last month, follwing "Slow Fast Slow". The video was directed by Alexander Sworik, starring Abby Johnston, Damian Plauszta and Callum Thompson.
The video is inspired from the latest mass school shootings. The trio visited schools targeted by gun threats, then the band decided to create the video for a message to gun violence. This video around the issue by using children with toy guns in order to depict the culture surrounding guns.
Also they will donate all the proceeds of the song to the National Compassion Fund.
Lead singer Nikki Whitehead said of the video;
“For ‘Get Paid’, we wanted to make a video that touched on some of the experiences we’ve had with gun violence, but also keep the optimistic tone that inspired the song. We wanted to treat the subject with the gravity it deserves, but also inspire positivity and optimism about making a change.
Hopefully, with ‘Get Paid’ we can add our little push to the movement to end gun violence.”
- Nikki's Wives was formed in 2015, consisting of Nikki Whitehead (vocals), Dylan Lauzon (guitar) and Nate Baylor (drums).
Nikki Whitehead and Dylan Lauzon started writing and playing music together in 2013. Then Nate Baylor joined in the band in 2015.
The band released a debut EP "For E•V•E•R" in 2016.
