The Lone Bellow Premieres Ocean Way Sessions Video for “May You Be Well”
- Brooklyn-based indie-folk band The Lone Bellow debuted Ocean Way sessions video for “May You Be Well”, directed by Mike Reuther. The video was premiered exclusively on Billboard.
The song is included on their latest album "Walk Into a Storm", which was released last September.
The band performed the song live for the first time at Lowell Summer Music Series in 2016.
About the song, Zach Williams told Billboard;
"This song is from a letter that I wrote to my oldest daughter Loretta a few years ago while I was on a long tour. I was in a Holiday Inn in Louisville and later turned it into a song. It was first just a message to Loretta but really turned in to a message to our country and anyone else who is listening. We made the live video of the song to try and capture the earnest feelings we have about the song. Its not the usual introspective tone, its a song that is turned outward, seeing others and carrying each other's burdens and trying to instill hope in one another."
- The Lone Bellow started in 2011 as a songwriting project for Zach Williams, consisting of Zach Williams (guitar, lead vocals), Kanene Donehey Pipkin (mandolin, bass, vocals) and
Brian Elmquist (guitar, vocals).
The band released a self-titled debut album in 2013. The album appeared at No. 64 on the Billboard 200. In 2015, they released a second album "Then Came the Morning". The album was premiered on NPR's website. The group was nominated for an Americana Music Award for Duo/Group of the Year on the strength of their album.
