Royal Blood Shares New Music Video for “Boilermaker”
- British rock duo Royal Blood, consisting of Ben Thatcher and Mike Kerr, will release their upcoming third studio album “Typhoons” on April 30, 2021.
From the album, the duo released a new song “Boilermaker” on April 13th, following “Limbo”.
The duo first performed the song during their European tour in 2019. The track was written by Ben Thatcher and Mike Kerr. Produced by Josh Homme. The video was directed by and starring Liam Lynch.
Mike Kerr said of the song, “I had Boilermaker up my sleeve and it felt like a very natural decision to go and cut that track at his studio [Pink Duck in Los Angeles]. Josh [Homme] is such a strong-willed character. He gave us such confidence in ourselves.”
The new album is their first LP in four years and comprises of 11-track.
“We sort of stumbled on this sound, and it was immediately fun to play,” Mike Kerr said in a statement. “That's what sparked the creativity on the new album, the chasing of that feeling. It's weird, though – if you think back to 'Figure it Out,' (from debut album) it kind of contains the embryo of this album. We realized that we didn't have to completely destroy what we'd created so far; we just had to shift it, change it. On paper, it's a small reinvention. But when you hear it, it sounds so fresh.”
