Last month, Los Angeles-based rapper Lyric Jones announced her new album “Closer Than They Appear” will be released this year. The album is produced by Phonte of Little Brother.
From the album, she dropped a new song “Show You How” on September 18th. She teamed up with American rapper Vic Mensa. The track features electronic rap and jazz sound vibe. Her rap is reminiscent of Common. It was written by Vic Mensa, Phonte and Lyric Jones.
Lyric Jones said of the song, “The goal with this song is simple: to have fun! It's been a stressful year and my music as of lately has been serious or very pensive. I wanted to switch it up in all aspects from the genre, personnel, and topic. Women's sexuality has been a hot topic over the past couple months. I feel the beauty with words is how you use them. I wanted to have a 'sexy' bop but paint the picture while leaving room for imagination and less explicit. Having Vic Mensa on this was a random suggestion I threw at Phonte, and it worked out perfectly.”- source : HipHop-N-More
