Noah Cyrus Performs “I Got So High That I Saw Jesus” & “July” on Vevo Live Performance
- American singer-songwriter Noah Cyrus performed her latest song “I Got So High That I Saw Jesus” and “July” on Vevo Live Performance.
She recorded both songs in London, directed by Alex Thompson.
“I Got So High That I Saw Jesus” was released back in March. She co-wrote the song with her friends Peter Harding, who was also a co-writer of “July”.
Noah Cyrus said of the song, “I was smoking weed one night, and had this epiphany, then wrote the song, hence the title. I hope this song resonates with people, especially with all that is going on in the world right now. Humans have evolved in so many beautiful ways, but we’ve also gotten so out of touch with the world, and each other. We’ve all lost sight of so many of the simplest things. As PJ [Peter Harding], who I wrote the song with me put it: it’s about extensional dread. What I love about the song is the multiple meanings it holds and how it will affect each and every listener differently.”
“July” was released last July. The remix version features American soul singer Leon Bridges Leon Bridges. The song became her second and Leon Bridges' first entry on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Noah Cyrus said, “this one is really emotional for me and extremely heart felt. thank you to Peter Harding and Michael Sonier for making me feel comfortable enough to open up and write this song. i wrote this about a time when i felt like i amounted to nothing to someone and never felt good enough for them. i stayed in fear of the heart break tho my heart was already in a million pieces. anyway its out now heres a piece of my life that made a huge impact on me.”
Both songs will appear on her upcoming second EP “The End Of Everything”, which is set to be released on May 15t
