American singer-songwriter Selena Gomez released a new song “Love On” on February 22, 2024.
The song is the follow-up to “Single Soon”, which was released last August and produced her boyfriend Benny Blanco.
Both songs will appear on her upcoming fourth studio album, which follows up the 2020 album “Rare”.
She told Vanity Fair about the album last year, “The music I'm doing right now is about real things that I'm walking through. It's really powerful, strong, very pop. The theme generally is freedom - freedom from relationships, freedom from the darkness.”
The new track was written by Isaiah Tejada, Jordan K. Johnson, Julia Michaels, Michael Pollack, Selena Gomez, and Stefan Johnson. Produced by The Monsters & Strangerz, Isaiah Tejada.
The accompanying music video was directed by French director Greg Ohrel.
According to press release, the song is an anthemic pop song, inspired by all the time she has spent in Paris last year. Throughout the lyrics, she emphasizes the romance of the Parisian lifestyle and the thrill of sharing a new love.- Selena Gomez told Zane Lowe of Apple Music about the song, “It really is I've had a lot of fun lately or I should say in the past few years just experimenting and finding what you know those little era charms are and that's what they feel like to me. I and I just I've loved this song and I am so eager and excited and you know I just I want people to feel good when they listen ti it that's what I want to hear on the radio.”
She continued, “I think that's the idea is that I was inspired a lot by living in Paris that for two months I had to work there. And I love just the quality of life and how romantic it felt and then to kind of feel really happy in my life and actually mean it is so it's just like you could tell in my video I'm just smiling the whole time. It's such a good feeling.” - She added about making the song, “First off I mean with Julia I think it's to say that she is like my partner in crime and she's helped really shape my voice and she's just taught me to learn into bing a storyteller, but also just you know kind of like really just staying in my lane and like also having fun with music. So but then I got to work on it with Monsters & Strangers which is Stefan and Jordan and they are amazing producers that have known me my whole life basically and throughout the years just grow and you grow together and you make really awesome music.”
Selena Gomez will portray American singer-songwriter Linda Ronstadt in an upcoming biopic.
Also, she will perform in the musical Emilia Perez along with Zoe Saldana later this year. - source : Apple Music
