Dermot Kennedy Performs “Carrickfergus” at Ireland 100: An Old Song Resung
On October 7, RTÉ and South Wind Blows took place a live concert “Ireland 100: An Old Song Resung” at the RDS to mark 100 years of the Irish State as part of the Decade of Centenaries Programme 2012-2023.
In the concert, Irish singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy performed “Carrickfergus”.
“Carrickfergus” is an Irish folk song, named after the town of Carrickfergus in County Antrim, Northern Ireland.
In addition to Dermot Kennedy, the concert featured Aiden Gillen, Tolü Makay, Colm Mac Con Iomaire and Síle Denvir with Bláth na hÓige and Liam Ó Maonlaí, Iarla Ó Lionáird, Loah, Donal Lunny, Martin Hayes, FeliSpeaks, Diarmaid Ferriter, Sally Mulready OBE, the London Irish Pensioners Choir and more.
