Anish Kumar Premieres New Song “Care About Me” on BBC Radio 1
Cambridge-based DJ Anish Kumar premiered a new song “Care About Me” on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds with Jack Saunders.
The song is the fourth single off of his upcoming mixtape “A Mixtape by Anish Kumar”, which is set to be released on August 25, 2023.
It was written by Anish Kumar, Charlie Mole, and Gerry DeVeaux. Produced by Anish Kumar.
Anish Kumar told Jack Saunders about the song, “I had that sample to Chaka Khan sample. And it kind of just clicked in a day made in summer made for summer and yet I'm just so gusted it could come out in the way I made it.”
He continued, “It's nice that you picked up on those elements in their strings especially I mean I know I've just said I'm so in the studio but sometimes I get my brother involved to record some strings. So he did the strings on our previous one of mine called 'Blackpool Boulevard' and same for this tune actually.”- He said of the mixtape, “A lot of nostalgia for childhood I would say, because I've kind of made it in during the time is a COVID when we didn't have much time to do anything other than sit back and reflect and pause, they say like you have your whole life to write your first album. And then maybe like one year to make a second. This was very much a first album mixtape and it kind I think it reflects a lot of my tastes that have led up to what I'm doing now.”
