Canadian rock band Rose Cora Perry & The Truth Untold, consisting of Rose Cora Perry (vocals/guitar), Tyler Randall (drums) and Carmen North (bass), returned with a new song “Not My Time”.
The song is the their first music since the 2019 debut EP “Other Side of the Story”.
It was written by Rose Cora Perry.
Written directly following the band frontwoman Rose Cora Perry’s own triumphant battle against the virus, the song strongly exclaims in no uncertain terms, it’s “not” her “time” to die and she means it both in the literal and metaphoric sense.
Rose Cora Perry shared on social media, “Written literally the day I recovered from battling COVID. I hope my band's new song 'Not My Time' will resonate with you. These past two years have been hard on us all. It's not your time to die nor give up hope either!”- The accompanying music video was directed by Rose Cora Perry and Emanuel Benyamin.
Troubled by the growing divisiveness created by opposing covid views, the band’s video calls its viewers to question “which of the facts are true” and whether there’s a “truth” that's not being “told”, a clever play on the band’s name.
Rose Cora Perry told Round Magazine, “My aim in writing Not My Time was/is to unite people. It doesn’t matter if you’re of camp ‘pro’ or camp ‘anti’ with respect to how covid has been managed. The reality is that the pandemic has been extremely difficult on us all – physically, socially, economically and psychologically.” -
