Sydney-based alt-pop singer-songwriter merci, mercy premiered a new song “Into You” along with a music video on BBC Radio 1's Future Artists with Jack Saunders.
The song will appear on her upcoming sophomore EP “is it me, or is it you?”.
It was written by Merceedes Thorne and Chris Collins. The accompanying video was directed by Jasper Burrows Millican.
merci, mercy told Jack Saunders about the song, “"into you', I wrote when I was like 18, 19 and then uneasy. I wrote literally last year, like the worst time of my life. I was just severely depressed as per usual. And I was taking it out on like the people I loved like, mainly my sister, which was like not good, because she's like my best friend. That's it, really. I think it's like some of my best songwriting ever.”- The new EP is set to be released on September 30, 2022.
She said of the EP, “The EP is basically just about how I tend to victimize myself a lot and blame myself for actions that I am in complete control of. This is not a very nice thing to do, because then it pushes people away from you. That's basically. I definitely feel sad a little bit because I like wonder why I was such a meanie to like the people that I loved. But it also makes me happy because I feel like I'm doing a lot better because I like wrote out the songs and understood myself a bit more after hiding these songs.” -
