5 Seconds of Summer Announces New Album “5SOS5”, Shares New Song “Me, Myself & I”
Australian pop rock band 5 Seconds of Summer, consisting of Luke Hemmings (vocals/guitar), Michael Clifford (guitar), Calum Hood (bass) and Ashton Irwin (drums), announced their fifth studio album “5SOS5” would be released on September 23, 2022.
From the album, the band unveiled the third single off called “Me, Myself & I” on May 11, 2022.
It was written by Jon Bellion, Pete Nappi, Mick Coogan, Michael Clifford, Luke Hemmings, Ashton Irwin and Jason Evigan.
Produced by Michael Clifford, Jason Evigan, Jon Bellion, Pete Nappi and Lionel Crasta.
Luke Hemmings said, “So much of what we had been writing lyrically was extremely introspective and this song fit like a puzzle piece with the rest of the album. We then ended up finishing it with Jon, Jason, Pete and Mick, Calum Hood.”
He continued, “'Me Myself and I' explores the emotional cycle of feeling like you can do everything on your own and that you don't need anyone else, but eventually realizing that sometimes you push away the best things in your life. We love this song and hope other people connect with it as much as we do.”
The album comprises 14-track, including preceding singles “Complete Mess”, “Take My Hand” and “Me Myself & I”.
“The album is definitely very introspective. I think like a lot of people in the last couple years, the only way to look was inward. Well, for us anyway,” Luke Hemmings told Zane Lowe of Apple Music 1. “And lyrically looking into, I don't know, everything that happened to us was a big topic. And not doing this every day and being on the road was a different experience for us. And the whole album is, for me, the most introspective, the most lyrically, if I can say beautiful and … I don't know. There's just so much heart in it.”
