  • Theo Tams Releases New Song “I Could Be Hot”

  • Canadian singer-songwriter Theo Tams released a new song “I Could Be Hot” along with a music video on February 17, 2022.
The song is the first taste from his upcoming EP “Trilogy III”.
It was written by Theo Tams, Andrew Martino and Ally Sou. Produced by Theo Tams and Andrew Martino.
On the track, he reflects his experience on his 13+ years in the music industry as Canadian Idol winner.
Theo Tams explained, “I think a lot of artists these days feel that they'll only be valuable if Spotify cares about their music. 'I Could Be Hot,' the first single from my upcoming EP, Trilogy III, was written on a day when I felt particularly frustrated with my career and the music industry in general, like just another playlist bitch.
He continued, “As artists these days, we are being conditioned to fight for these types of milestones – editorial playlists, millions of streams – often at the expense of our artistic vision. It's a balancing act, and one that I think we are continually having to navigate. I've been grinding in this industry for over 13 years now, and there's an element of my career that will always be discredited because of my involvement on Canadian Idol.”
  • He said of the video, “The music video for 'I Could Be Hot' represents the flip side of that coin, what could have happened if the judges hated me and I never advanced or won the show. This track is unapologetic but it's also tongue-in-cheek, with a groove that carries you through. I wanted to take the power back and shift the narrative of being told my image is wrong or 'needs work.' Your worth as an artist and a creator has nothing to do with a corporation – create because it's your purpose; the rest will fall in place when it's meant to.”
