YUNGBLUD, Sigala & James Arthur Perform on BBC Top of the Pops New Year Special 2020/21
British singer-songwriter YUNGBLUD, DJ Sigala and singer-songwriter James Arthur appeared on BBC Top of the Pops New Year Special 2020/21.
YUNGBLUD performed “cotton candy” from his sophomore album “weird!”, which was released last December. He wrote the song with Zakk Cervini, Chris Greatti, Omer Fedi, Justin Tranter, and Julia Michaels.
YUNGBLUD said of the song, “I see this as a plaster for the punch in the gut from the ending of 'teresa.' I wrote this with Justin Tranter, Julia Michaels, and Omer Fedi, while Chris and Zakk Cervini produced it. I was like, 'I wanted to write a song about sex,' and I literally stripped down to my underpants—consensually, of course—and did the whole session in my underpants. It's like the most bubblegum YUNGBLUD song ever, but it's naughty. It was written and produced in three hours. Take your clothes off, sing about sex, and it's done!”.
Sigala and James Arthur performed their collaboration song “Lasting Lover”, which was released last September. The track was written by Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi.
Sigala said of the song, “We got sent the song as Lewis felt it wasn't quite right for him to release, so it actually arrived to me as an acoustic track. From there, it has been a really fun challenge to turn what was originally a ballad into a dance track. I have wanted to work with James [Arthur] for ages, and his voice suited the track perfectly, so it all came together really nicely!”- DechRm7HuDU
