Nashville-based singer-songwriter katie MAC released her latest EP “Self Sabotage” on October 2nd.
The EP contains 5-track including preceding singles “No Fun”, “Till It Hurts” and “Self Sabotage”. It is follows up her debut album “Tears Like Glitter” released last June.
katie MAC said of the EP, “This EP represents a lot for me. Self Sabotaging has been an ongoing struggle in my life and seeing my personal experiences culminate into art has been very cathartic for me. The project explores my relationships, my career, and my sense of self image by molding those experiences into pop songs that I'm really proud of. I hope when people listen to the EP, they feel like they really know me. And if they relate to the stories, I hope they can feel less alone as we all march forward in pursuit of self love and acceptance.”
She explained track by track for the EP below.- “Self Sabotage”
“I came up with the concept of Self Sabotage during a time where I felt like I was falling apart over and over. I remember while writing it, I made a joke to my co-writers, “well… I like what I like” and the song was born. The tune is meant to encompass a playful, tongue in cheek outlook on a deep-rooted struggle that I've faced in my relationships, career, and so much more. I think many people do this without even realizing it, so I took a hard look at the patterns I'd created and reframed them into a bubbly pop tune, all in an effort to take ownership and control over my life and relationships.”
“Till It Hurts”
“One thing that I've realized is anything real hurts when you lose it. While my newest single, “Till It Hurts” may sound like it's about heartbreak, it's actually about finding something that you feel so deeply that you know losing it will be painful. I wrote it when I was I worried I would never really *feel* something worth losing again. I think everyone can relate to that feeling of searching for something real, even if it's risky.”
“No Fun”
“No Fun is a song that I wrote about chasing that feel good, no pressure start to a relationship. All to realize your feelings might be deeper than you originally thought. The song signifies the beginning of a new and exciting phase for me as an artist where I am more honest and emotional than I've ever been.
