Culture Wars Releases New Song “Miley”
Austin-based alt-rock band Culture Wars, consisting of Alex Dugan (vocals), David Grayson (drums), Dillon Randolph (bass), Caleb Contreras (guitar), Josh Stirm (guitar), released a new song “Miley” on September 12, 2024.
The song is the fourth single off of their upcoming debut album, which has't been announced the title and release date yet.
The track was written by Alex Dugan, Caleb Contreras, David Grayson, and Dillon Randolph. Produced by Caleb Contreras.
The band frontman Alex Dugan said of the song, “Miley is about the naivete of a young woman new to LA and navigating the womanizing men in her new town. Feeling lonely and falling for one liners that lead to nothing but one night stands despite knowing better. Unintentionally the song took a more 80's influence in production with an electronic drum loop, keyboards and guitar.”- The accompanying music video was directed by Tim Mattia.
Alex Dugan told LUNA about the video, “Our editor Jen Kennedy is married to Tim Mattia, who was doing coloring for our other videos at the time. Jen was like, you know, my husband actually directs videos too. I reached out to him to see if he could come to New York for two days to help us finish the video. We squeezed it in between tour dates, and it was all his idea. I think he just took a big swing and it's a great swing. We're super happy.” -
The debut album is their first project since the 2021 EP “teche”.
Alex Dugan told LUNA about the album, “We looked at it in the three years that we developed this, and our producer, co-writer and guitar player, Caleb. Him and I wanted to approach this project differently compared to teche. He really wanted to focus on getting the best possible songs. I was like, let's do a vocal and a guitar or a vocal and a piano, and that's it. We're very intentional and just brought it back down to the basics and decided if it's not good this way, we're not moving forward. I think it was all good timing and it just worked out. We stayed true to that vision pretty much.”
