  • Efterklang Announces New Album “Things We Have In Common”, Shares New Song “Plant” featuring Mabe Fratti

  • Danish indie rock band Efterklang, consisting of Casper Clausen (vocals), Mads Brauer (electronics) and Rasmus Stolberg (bass), has announced their upcoming album “Things We Have In Common” will be released on September 27, 2024.

The album is the final chapter in the trilogy, following the 2019 album “Altid Sammen” and the 2021 album “Windflowers”.
The album comprises a 9-track, featuring guest appearances from Mabe Fratti, Beirut, and Sønderjysk Pigekor.
Former member Rune Mølgaard, who left the band after the release of the 2007 album “Parades”, co-wrote 7 of 9 songs on the album.
After leaving the band, Rune Mølgaard was involved with the Mormon Church, but left the religion in 2022.

Mads Brauer explained about the album, “Towards the end of the album process we talked about belonging, in relation to Rune's journey - how he no longer found that feeling in the church. We talked about how Casper's sense of belonging is tied to something nomadic, and about how Mads and I associate this with our families.”

Rune Mølgaard added, “It became a completely therapeutic process for me. When we write music together, it happens from a genuinely curious place, in a shared experience of the moment.”
  • From the album the band released the second single called “Plant” on May 8, 2024, following “Getting Reminders”.
The song features Guatemalan singer Mabe Fratti.
It was written by Casper Clausen, Mads Brauer, Rasmus Stolberg, Rune Mølgaard, Tatu Rönkkö, and Mabe Fratti. Produced by Efterklang and Francesco Donadello.
The accompanying music video was directed by Søren Lynggaard and Niels Buhl Hendriksen, who filmed in Denmark, Sweden, Lisbon and Los Angeles.

The band lead singer Casper Clausen said of the song, “'Plant' is a song dedicated to the act of reaching out, beyond ourselves, daring to go beyond our inner world and share ourselves with others, putting our vulnerability on display, like a plant reaching for the light. This is one of the first songs we wrote for the new album, and it's been a long journey, starting from a sketch by our longtime friend, collaborator, and co-founder of Efterklang, pianist Rune Mølgaard.”

  • Mabe Fratti said, “Recording 'Plant' with Efterklang was extremely joyful as I remember witnessing the song developing when I went with Efterklang to Sommertræf two years ago. It's a breeze, this song. I felt that Casper's tone and mine are super friendly with each other!”
