stevexcooper & Gabe Gill Team Up for New Song “Bad Reviews”
Brooklyn-based music producer Steve Cooper, aka stevexcooper teamed up with American underground art-pop artist Gabe Gill to release a new song “Bad Reviews”.
The song was released as the a-side of their upcoming collaborative release “BREAKDOWN AT THE CINEPLEX”, which is coming soon.
It is the follow-up to the EP “What Are You Made Of?”, which was released back in September.
The track was written by Steve Cooper, Gabe Gill, and Nathaniel Mann. Produced by stevexcooper.
Steve Cooper said, “The movie theme and visual concept revealed itself through the songwriting process, rather than being discussed in advance. We've been wanting to drop for a while and tried hard to find the right pair of tunes. 'You N Me Show' was in the can already when a light bulb went off during the writing of 'Bad Reviews'. We realized it also used television and movie-making metaphors to tell a love story.”
Gabe Gill added, “Both songs use the cinema metaphor to explain the feeling of distance and dissociation in many relationships – the sense that you’re almost viewing something on a screen instead of actually experiencing it.”
- Steve Cooper shared on social media, “Gabe and I want the same things out of art. We want to follow the right rules and break all the wrong ones. We want big ideas to come from small moments and the tiniest details to inspire the largest lyrics. We also want to talk ad nauseam about promo (maybe I’m projecting). Most of all, we don’t want to wait. We want to write and drop and write and drop. We want to blow it all on some content this app won’t even show you. And that’s what we did. BREAKDOWN AT THE CINEPLEX soon.”
